Meet the Dog Trainer

Hi, I’m Evan, the trainer behind Bernville Pet Spa and Resort’s dog training program.

I began working with dogs at the age of 16, where I developed a strong foundation in dog training principles and canine body language. From there, my experience expanded into shelter work, managing dog-to-dog interactions, and working with more complex behavioral cases, including dogs with significant reactivity.

Helping reactive dogs and their owners work through these challenges is the most rewarding part of what I do. Dogs deserve our understanding and patience, and many behavioral issues stem from miscommunication rather than disobedience. My training approach is built on three core elements: appropriate exercise, mental stimulation, and a clear foundation of obedience.

I believe reactive and fearful dogs deserve the opportunity to be understood and communicated with effectively. My goal is to help bridge the gap between dogs and their owners, creating clarity, trust, and a stronger relationship. Dogs have been our companions for thousands of years, and they deserve thoughtful, respectful training that advocates for their needs.

Training Services Offered

Initial Behavior Evaluation

The Initial Behavior Evaluation is the first step in determining the most appropriate training path for you and your dog. During this session, we discuss your goals, review your dog’s history, and assess behavior to identify underlying causes and patterns.

This evaluation allows us to determine whether training is appropriate and what approach will be most effective based on your dog’s temperament, behavior, and lifestyle.

Available at both Bernville Veterinary Clinic Pet Spa & Resort and Leesport Pet Resort.

One-On-One Private Training Sessions

Private training sessions build on the Initial Behavior Evaluation and focus on hands-on training and continued progress. These sessions are tailored to address reactivity, obedience challenges, and real-world situations you encounter with your dog.

After each session, you will receive a detailed behavior and training plan outlining what was covered, along with clear guidance on how to continue training at home for long-term success.

Available at both Bernville Veterinary Clinic Pet Spa & Resort and Leesport Pet Resort.

Two-Week Board & Train Program

The Two-Week Board & Train program is designed for dogs who require immersive, consistent training in a structured environment. During this program, your dog stays with us for two weeks, allowing us to interrupt unwanted patterns and begin a focused behavior modification process.

While in our care, your dog receives daily training, mental stimulation, and appropriate exercise. This controlled setting allows us to work through behavioral challenges without the distractions or unintentional reinforcement that can often occur in the home environment.

At the conclusion of the program, you will participate in an in-depth transition session with your dog and the trainer. We will review progress, discuss expectations moving forward, and ensure you feel confident continuing the training at home.

Board & Train programs are offered exclusively at Bernville Veterinary Clinic Pet Spa & Resort.
